Today’s students are tomorrow’s leaders and innovators. We’re making sure all B.C. students benefit from our world-class education system.
We started the Learning Improvement Fund (LIF) to put more teachers and support staff in B.C.’s classrooms
B.C. classrooms are made up of 528,689 students. That’s 79,000 fewer students than 16 years ago.
Now more than ever, B.C.’s students are moving ahead after high school. B.C. has the highest rate of residents aged 25 to 64 with a high school diploma – 91%.
We’ve put aside $1.7 billion over the next three years to improve existing schools and build new state-of-the art facilities.
Over the next three years, we’re investing $560 million to make sure that B.C. students are safe.
Each school district has a Safe School Coordinator (SSC) – these coordinators have responded to 800 online student safety reports.
We are keeping our class sizes low and stable – last year 40% of K-12 classes had fewer than 24 students.
Numerous assessments have found that our students out-perform other provinces and rank high internationally.
